What is FIWG?
The Forest Issues Working Group (FIWG) is a growing coalition of people and organizations that care about the health of Virginia’s forests and the many essential benefits these forests provide. We are searching for the common ground on which we can broaden and strengthen our coalition so that we can significantly affect forest conversion and forest health.
It is our belief that urbanization and globalization are making political allies out of environmental groups, forest industry, landowner associations, government agencies, municipal water authorities, watershed councils, and a host of other groups that realize their interests are intimately tied to Virginia’s forests.
We are open to innovative and traditional solutions, including local collaborative land use decision making, traditional government regulation, novel market solutions, active public involvement, and continuous landowner education.
We are a working group of the Virginia Conservation Network (http://www.vcnva.org/)
